Tissue & Me

For those who suffer with allergy and sinus issues and cannot enjoy simple things in life.

How Do I Determine If It’s An Allergy, Burn, or Bruise?

I have a problem.

Bandages hurt.

I mean, yeah, when they are being pulled off of the skin for removal, there is some discomfort, but when ever I wear a bandage, no matter the brand, my skin turns very dark in the area where the bandage was adhered. Hours after the bandage is removed, my skin starts to itch really bad, little bumps pop up, and then the discoloration appears. Dr. Google says that it could be contact dermatitis. After a few weeks, or months, the discoloration is still on my skin. This happens with household bandages (that are bought from the store) as well as medical bandages from doctors. For a very long time, I was under the impression that people with dark skin do not bruise (or even burn in the sun) but my body determined that was a lie! Why does this happen? I’m totally over topical, injectable, and oral medications as well as the different tests that the doctors have performed. Yes, I know that I am allergic to a lot of things, but this one is new! I’ve only had this reaction the past four years. Is it normal to grow into allergies instead of growing out of them?

Take a look at my photos.

As you can see, the irritations are in the shape of the bandages. It’s very easy to see where the adhesive was on my skin and where the cotton was.

About Me

I’m an outsider that likes to peek on the inside. I am an extreme introvert, but will become an extrovert for the right people. I avoid social situations, not because of the extreme introvertism, but because people make me sick–literally. With this unfortunate condition, that’s why there’s my tissue and me. Literally.
